I installed one of the three or so Linux under Windows via loopback distros on a friend of mine's Windows computer so I could use it as an X Terminal. It worked perfectly for weeks before finally one day windows decided that it didn't want to return to the graphical stuff.

In the end it's a matter of Windows not wanting to stop going into dosmode and executing the Linux stuff over and over.
