En passant...
Someone on one of the translation communities asked about the English phrase "the sky's the limit" a day or so ago, and although Google says that string occurs about 1.3 million times, in an informal survey of a number of pages listing the top 500 hits, I was only able to find one example of the phrase in use in an actual sentence (where it wasn't the actual sentence). Lots of use as a headline/title, though.
I'm thinking that means the phrase may have transcended its undisputed status as a cliché, but into what? I don't know.
One of the tweeters I follow expressed interest in embedding a video in a PDF file. Is it just me, or is there just something fundamentally wrong about that?
What I mean is, technical issues aside - can it be done? sure it can be done! I knew a guy once who wrote a program in dBase to learn Morse code using the built-in IBM PC speaker - I think of PDF as fundamentally a vehicle for encapsulating and delivering what would normally be paper documents, and video doesn't fit in very well with that world view.
(Then again, there was once a time I would have considered the idea of posting journal entries for public consumption real far out, too.)
Time to "turn to." There's email to answer already, and the electrician is coming by later to upgrade the box downstairs.
Cheers...
