Lazy Wednesday, and more education...
Sat around the apartment for most of the morning. Spent a bunch of time yesterday actually getting processed by the system, so I don't have to worry about not being registered while here for the next few days. Then Galina and I headed out to the Leningrad railroad station, to see about getting tickets for St. Petersburg next week.
The funny system they have (perhaps a precursor of what will happen in the States, as the Rethugocrats get into the swing of government in the 21st century) requires you to provide a passport number to buy a rail ticket to St. Petersburg, and since we want to travel with Natalie in the same coupé, we'll need her number to buy three tickets at one time, in one compartment. So we didn't buy any tickets.
Instead, we went to the Bibio-Globus bookstore to browse, but did not find an English language guide to St. Petersburg. I did find a stock book for stamps, though.
Then we had a late lunch at a Japanese restaurant (sushi) and then walked over to Tverskaya, from where we went home during the tail end of the rush hour.
We did pretty well for being on our own today. We're back at the apartment, and eating pilmeni (sort of ravioli, Russian style).
Cheers...
