Found while walking...

Enough leaves fell overnight to make a mockery of any clearing I've done. Seriously, over by where I left a small pile of leaves before knocking off for the day, you can no longer tell there was a pile there.

The leaves make it pretty hard to find mushrooms, especially if you go looking off the beaten (and relatively clear) paths. During a short walk this morning with Shiloh, however, I did happen across a small patch of mushrooms, and the camera on my new iPhone 4S did a reasonably good job of capturing images.





I'm thinking this is an Amanita phalloides (which sounds most scholarly and lacks the punch of the common name for such a mushroom, which is "Death Cap"). This is definitely not a fungus to ingest!
