Another fitful night...

I started to have another night of tossing and turning, some sleep, and then intermittent wakefulness, but got wise about half way through and ripped open a sample dose of NyQuil, which put me out until late morning. I then lollygagged in bed until 10:30 am.

I called the United reservations line, with the intent of hanging on until I got through to a human voice. (Such determination!) Eventually, my work was rewarded by a voice that helped me snag the last seat on tomorrow's flight out of IAH up to Denver. With any luck, I'll be in Pagosa by 9 pm tomorrow night.

The flea situation here has become untenable. I've sprayed the place twice (technically, fogged once and sprayed once), and this tends to keep the place free of fleas, but only for about 24 hours. (Does the next generation spring to life so quickly?) The following day, if I walk out into the living room in bare feet, I end up with a few dozen of the critters attacking me almost at once. I sprayed once more this morning, and if that doesn't do it, then I'll have to call a professional, I guess. This is ridiculous.

I disappeared from the house after spraying today, first to an IHOP for breakfast, and then down to the Baybrook Mall, just to walk around. I resisted the temptation to buy stuff, so I'm feeling good about that.

I'm back now and tired. I think I'll take a nap.

Cheers...

Fleas

Try putting flea carpet powder in the carpets. Apparently they lay eggs in the carpet and also can hide there from fogging and spraying.

Good luck. Fleas can be really tough to get rid of (from experience-;))

Adrienne's suggestion is a good one. You can get a large container of SEVIN powder at garden stores. It's inexpensive and is identical to high-priced flea powder. Sprinkle it in the carpets and sweep them a bit to make sure the stuff is all over just before you leave. When you get back, you can vacuum it out.

If that doesn't work, professionals will probably treat for live fleas and in some other way for eggs.

Good Luck with the flight.
Or should I say patience...

they are right aboput the eggs...you have my deepest sympathies...they are the scourge of the earth. Check with a vet, there is aplant based product that works real well...it is an organc spray. I wish I remembered the name for you.

Wow! Who'd have thought...

Gee, go take a nap and see what happens when you're away!

Thanks for all the recommendations.

Interestingly enough, I'm not having any trouble with my carpets. The fleas are particularly troublesome on the hardwood floors and the kitchen linoleum. Anyway, I've sprayed today and the problem seems to have abated. I'll ask Lee to come by in a week or so and if they're still here, have her engage a pro.

We have no flea problems in Colorado. Apparently, the altitude doesn't agree with the little critters.

Cheers...
