Moving along in fits and starts...

Watched the second half of the Forever premiere. The Evil Mastermind™ can apparently be dialed back to merely an Ominous Presence™. Henry Morgan's powers of observation are keen, except they make him look like a wannabe Sherlock Holmes. I will probably continue to watch the show, on an episode by episode basis, as there is evidently quite a bit more to be learned of Morgan's recent history.

Took a spore print of the white mushrooms that grace nearly every lawn in the neighborhood, and was surprised to find the print to exhibit a greenish-gray color. An identification of "green-spored lepiota" (Chlorophyllum molybdites) would appear to be confirmed.

In distinction from every other lawn on the block, our lawn features a number of boletes that look like aspen boletes, but which stain dark purple or black when handled.

Still struggling with the latest LJ Idol prompt. Poor me.

I'm also still completely and utterly spinning my wheels at this eleventh hour. I really don't want to go with the Karate Kid meaning of it, sounds like too many other people are leaning that ways and I like to try for creative interpretations anyway. One idea I had that might be of use to you was for someone to "sweep" by winning all the backgammon games on a given leg of a sail (ie the portion for one port to another). I'm sure you could turn that into chess games at a leg of a tournament or something...

I still really don't know what I'm going to write.. so I reserve the right to go ahead and do something with that! Though I don't think I'm up to your knack of making a round of a board game into an exciting story.

Well, might not a sudden odd wave cause some of the backgammon pieces to move? Or the dice to not fall within the prescribed area? (Imagine getting that 1-in-36 winning double, except that one of the dice is sitting on the floor!)

I am eternally grateful you didn't come up with the idea of a rope being jerked by something that had been caught by the wind, resulting in some number of people having their legs swept out from under them. :^)

Cheers...
