What can one say?

A client I had not heard from in probably 6 years called with a rush job from French into English. A presentation.

This automatically caused bells to ring (quietly) in my head, because people have a tendency to go abbreviation happy inside of presentations, which makes the overall translation that much harder.

But then the presentation—one of several, I was informed—arrived in the email.

It was a 28-page PDF of what had obviously begun life as a PowerPoint file. And whoever created the original slides was rather good at incorporating lots and lots of creative ways to show data. A veritable riot of miniature infographics, and a translator's nightmare.

I declined with work.

I'm off to meditate at tai chi.
