Field day...
Got up around 9:30 this morning, and proceeded to clean, clean, clean.
The place looks roomier and move liveable, now. I even reclaimed my old "office," and moved the bed and dresser that used to be in there to the "back room," which has become a catch-all area.
I spent just a little time setting up the Macintosh. It would appear that, first, the screen is "tilted" a little bit on the CRT (i.e., it's not square with the edges, as you'd expect). I suppose, for $50, I should not be too upset with this, but then again, there may be some Magical Adjustment that fixes this. I am a mere babe in the woods as far as Macintoshes are concerned (but then again, isn't that the premise of the machine's design?).
Second, about the only complete piece of non-trivial software on the box is Adobe Acrobat 4.0, and I'm sure I didn't buy a license for it when I bought the machine, so I guess I'll be deleting it, or wiping the HD completely, sometime in the future. The machine is apparently set up as a NetWare client, which makes me think that there's probably a network card in the box somewhere, too. This leads me to believe I can put this machine on a network with the rest of my PCs, and hopefully without too many contortions.
Lee left a message on my cell, telling me that she'd made contact with an Orkin exterminator, who is supposed to be here tomorrow between noon and 5. After spraying and sweeping and cleaning (the latter two being key, repeated daily), I think I may actually have this problem on the run, so I'm not too enthused about having some guy come in and spray fresh insecticide in here just about now. I've left Lee a message to call off the guy, but in the final analysis, if he comes, I'll just tell him I hadn't known about him (I hadn't), and had gone ahead and solved the problem on my own.
Anyway, it's time to go take a "morning" shower right now (I slept from 6 pm to 9 pm), and then get myself on the road.
