It's the last day of the year...
...and yet in most of the ways that count, it's no different from any other day.

lifeinpublic's recent post about Childreach and her decision to support a child, I visited the site and felt it was the right opportunity and the right vehicle to do a little good in a world that seems increasingly bent on a hell-for-leather dash back to the Dark Ages. So I signed up to help out an 11-year-old Albanian boy.
* * * I got back from the store around 11 am and sat down to revise my translation checklist. I've simplified the information I'm capturing on the form and adding some fields that will help, I think, track down documents after the fact.
Besides retrieval issues, I've also shifted the emphasis on the form toward not having to necessarily print out received documents or sent translations. Experience shows that, although it is important to be able to find old documents for reference purposes, the percentage of documents referred to is currently less than 5%.
In any event, I'm not going to print a whole lot of these forms, as I think I'm going to have to use them a dozen times or so to make sure everything is tuned properly.
* * * The kids wanted us to look after Huntur tonight, but we've been invited to Mike and Karen's (which reminds me, I've got to come up with something to bring along... I'm considering a classic green bean casserole). So, I don't know how that affects the babysitting angle; we'll see.
Enough procrastinating. Daylight is burning.
Cheers...
