That's certainly an idea! (Though off the top of my head, I don't think my narrator is that much of a heel.)

The idea of this ongling and deep conflict between the narrator (Duke) and N'klaus appeals to me, because since the ship requires a human crewmember, Duke has to keep hauling N'klaus's chestnuts out of the fire.

But maybe not forever.
