Mile-a-minute...

I woke myself up at 5:30 this morning and it was a good thing, too, as the translation has taken me a bit longer than I anticipated. (Putting it another way, it's been done for a while; I've just taken additional time to nail down details, as it's for a very occasional client from whom I would welcome a more regular stream of work.)

I am about to send the thing off, and then need to make sure I have everything for the trip home before going to visit my mom and departing New York.

Cheers...

Pausing in Albuquerque...

I'm just off the plane from Cincinnatti.

It has been a long day. My mom's condition did not improve during today's visit, nor did it particularly degrade. I'm not at all sure she realized I was in the room, despite the fact that she was awake and looked at me. She said nothing. I do not know if I will see her again in this life.

Kazakhstan in October is looking dimmer day by day, though I still need to reapply for a multiple-entry visa for the future. I received an inquiry today about my availability in mid-November, to which I replied with the message "let me get back to you early next week." I hope the job does not go away. Frankly, I don't feel that bad about "losing" the Baikonur gig; I never had it to begin with, anyway.

Time to fold up the computer and go pick up my bag. With any luck, Galina is waiting to pick me up in the arrivals area.

Cheers...
