LJ Idol musings...

As a departure from "the usual" way of doing things - I'm not sure there is any particular "way" that can nail down that title, but I digress... - this week's vote is limited to this season's LJ Idol participants.

According to the latest skinny, only something like 50 of the 195 people eligible to vote have voted so far, and even if you take into account about 25 individuals that have indicated they'll be reading and voting tonight, that's still less than 50% of the entrants.

If you are in the "eligible pool" and have not yet voted, drop on by the community and check things out.

Cheers...

Obama knows how to keep a secret...

In early January, the Bush administration rejected a FOIA request by the Electronic Frontier Foundation for the text of a proposed international anti-counterfeiting treaty, claiming that the treaty was a classified national security secret.

This was considered by many to be a little far-fetched, as the treaty negotiations involve nearly three dozen countries around the world. That, plus allegations that key sections of the treaty were drafted by corporate lobbyists for the entertainment industry make it all the more stunningly incomprehensible that the Obama administration has similarly declared the treaty to be secret, claiming national security concerns.

I just can't imagine what could possibly be so secret about something that potentially could become "the law of the land" if passed by the Senate.

Cheers...
