The pause that, um, refreshes...

The 3,000-word item is gone, and I have four invoices to write and send. But before I do that, I sat down to figure out what damage my orgy of work acceptance has done to my overall schedule.

The bottom line is that I am well and truly committed full time until the 18th, with no days off (though I can take the rest of today off after I do the invoices and knock off another 1200 words.

I've had tougher weekends, but both this weekend and next will see me translating 3,500 words per day.

Not that I'm complaining, mind you. :)

Goal achieved...

I managed to type just over 5,000 target words today, and that's enough. In fact, with "only" 3500 source words scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday, I'm almost feeling giddy with relief.

Almost.

In between, I baked some bread this morning, and even with new yeast, the result is about the same (which means either the old yeast is okay, too, or the new yeast is also of poor quality). Try as I might, the amount of dough I grab is pretty consistent, which normally is nothing to complain about, but the resulting loaves won't last 30 seconds once Galina gets home and the two of us start in on a freshly baked loaf. I'm still a beginner, though, so there's room to grow.

I also made some chicken soup with potatoes, leeks, and mushrooms. The result is pretty good, though rather drab to look at.

It's time to go focus on something more than two feet away from my face.
