From some very old programming notes...

Among the things that came in handy in grokking the concept of pointers in C (way back in the day) was a short conversation lifted from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass:
"The name of the song is called Haddock's Eyes."

"Oh, that's the name of the song, is it?" Alice said.

"No, you don't understand. That's what the song is called. The name really is The Aged Aged Man."

"Then I ought to have said 'That's what the song is called'?"

"No, you oughtn't: that's quite another thing! The song is called Ways and Means: but that's only what it's called, you know!"
You just had to be there, I guess.

(On the other hand, if the above exchange makes perfect sense to you, you may have a future as a C programmer!)

Cheers...
