Quote from Rod Steiger...

"When you lose your curiosity, you're dead. I don't care if you live to be 117. You're dead."

(Watched Steiger and James Coburn the other night in Sergio Leone's Duck, You Sucker, which I missed seeing, the first time around. It made me wonder where else I had seen Steiger... and so on, etc..)

Dipping les doigts de pied...

There's a coffee shop down where Kirby meets NASA Parkway, and according to its Web site, it hosts a weekly French conversation group and a second French conversation group on a monthly basis. I decided to stop by and see what was happening, if anything.

The weekly group, I am told, has become the victim of some kind of factionalism, and as I cannot imaging the group really being big enough for something like that to happen, I am in the dark. This past week, I stopped by the shop and only one individual was there, reading a French book.

Today's meetup, which somehow bears the NASA label on the coffee shop's Web calendar, was reasonably attended. Including me, there were six people in attendance. I'm not exactly sure how beneficial this kind of meeting might be, but the fact that it occurs only on a monthly basis probably nullifies much of whatever positive can be said of the event.

It was warm enough upstairs in the latter part of the day to require turning on a ceiling fan in my office. I suspect things are only going to get hotter as the days pass.

Cheers...
