Refining the model...

A twinge in my jaw last night caused me to call the dentist's office this morning (finally!), but literally moments after grabbing an open slot at noon, I got a call from a client with a rush job.

I have declined such work in the past, but this month has been a little light so far on the work end, and since I had been offered a choice of today or tomorrow morning by the dentist's receptionist, my decision was a no-brainer. I accepted the work and moved the appointment.

Nice to know the criticality circuit—you know, that general-purpose dingus that causes your computer to crash when the Fate of the Civilized World™ depends on your printing something in the next 30 seconds—still works, from time to time.

There is a caveat, here, methinks. I get the feeling that, had I simply scheduled the dentist's appointment out of a sense of prudence, or with the hope that work would pop up to disrupt my plans, I would have seen the dentist by now.

Cheers...
