Like bones in a stew...
Over the past couple of days, as I contemplate what can be done with the Duke Jacobs tale, the really great ending I had in mind for the story—one that ties off all loose ends, provides a happy ending, and suggests a basis for future stories—didn't so much "fall apart" as "explode with the ferocity of a supernova."
I exaggerate, of course, but as a result, I cannot think of my "old" ending without experiencing a feeling of "boy, was that weak!" Of course, there's nothing to say the new ending—or hint of one, as I have not worked out all the details—is any better.
No matter. What I need to keep in mind is to "keep it interesting."
In any event, this is probably Good News™, particularly in light of the fact that another LJ Idol deadline looms.
So I should probably get busy.
