Happy International Translation Day!

I am celebrating by writing a bunch of invoices!

The high point of the process so far was finding a small job that I did while in Mexico but failed to enter in my records. I would claim "the tequila made me (not) do it," but the sad fact is that I had no truck with tequila while in Mexico; 'twas simply an oversight.

I seem to have run smack dab into the twilight zone best described by the phrase gang aft a-gley.

I was a mere several keystrokes from sending off my first invoice when I was inundated with four files containing 17,500 target words of machine translation. (How easy was it to determine this? Well, "50°C" in the Russian source file was shown as "50°With" on the first page of the translation!). End client would like it "cleaned up" ASAP.

As it happens, St. Jerome came through big time for this humble translator, because... well, I really shouldn't go into details, but something of a small miracle took place. What I can say is that the job has just become a lot more tractable within the given time frame (which sort of fell into the "yesterday" class of deadlines).

Done with that!

Now, maybe I can get some invoicing done around here!

Cheers...
