I was pleased to see Longmire return from the void on Netflix, and while I enjoyed the new episodes, I must admit I was a bit put off by the events leading up to the finale, which frankly makes the cliffhangers of yesteryear (the poster child for which, for me, is "Who shot JR?") look like a kindergarten finger painting session.
I surely would like to see the resolution of all the loose ends, but the more important question is: Do the people in charge of deciding whether or not to continue this series want to?
The Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries also added a new "season." (Where do people get the impression that eight new episodes a season makes?) In sharp distinction from Longmire, the adventures of Phryne Fisher came to something of a happily-ever-after ending point, but with more than enough wiggle room for the series to be resurrected in the future. (I'd watch it, for sure.)
My recent hospitalization caused me to miss almost all of the season premieres, which was probably a good thing, because in all the fuss and bother earlier in the year, it turns out I actually neglected to watch the—cliff-hanging, naturally—last shows of shows like NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. This would have been bad enough on its own, but NCIS in particular was nursing along one of those miserable multi-part story lines that, frankly, I'm not going to be able to remember after several months away from The Tube.
I watched the first episodes of Blindside and Minority Report and am not terribly impressed with what has been revealed of the imminent story arcs of these shows. I may take a look at a few more episodes, but I don't hold out much hope.
In other news, today was one of those days that started with the best of intentions, but ended with me not getting much of anything done. I need to stop doing that.
Tomorrow is another day, and it's going to be a big one.
