A candidate for political office in South Carolina uttered the following words, in an outburst intended to disparage his opponent:
"He is an ultra-liberal. He supports gay rights. He supports banning all handguns, he supports abortion, his wife kicked him out and he moved in with two gay men and a Shih Tzu. Is that South Carolina values? I don't think so."
Question: Is the candidate who made these anti-gay, anti-pro-choice remarks a Republican or Democrat?

Clue: This was given almost no attention in the national media.

(The clue gives it away, doesn't it? The speaker is Senate candidate Alex Sanders, a Democrat.)

Yes, the remarks were descriptive of Giuliani, who had been enlisted to support Graham. I deliberately worded the "poll question" to allow the post to be short (the remarks were intended, in the end, to disparage Graham).
