Another winnah!

One of the sessions I'm involved in at the conference was titled "Transplanting Toads and Constructing Camels" (a suitable explanation for the session's name was afforded by the organizer, Lydia S., but I'm not sure I could reproduce it faithfully, so I won't).

The session involved an attempt to arrive at a consensus regarding the translation of a poem by Pushkin, and which had been translated by me, Lydia, and Nora F.

We got as far as line 3 or 4 of the 15 or so lines in the poem before we ran out of time.

Still, it was an interesting session.

The famous Russian military leader Suvorov was quoted as saying "Тяжело в ученье, лехко в бою" (roughly, "When training is hard, combat is easy," which is not exactly the case, but a fair approximation). I just hope it holds for my presentation.

I've whittled it down and spent most of the morning practicing it. (As I stand here at the ATA "Cyber Café" in the exhibit hall, I am reminded that I left an important piece of paper upstairs. It outlines the demo portion of my presentation.)

So I will merely say that last night's SLD dinner was a very pleasant event, and will add more detail later, probably after I get back.

For now, I must either return upstairs or recreate the information on the forgotten sheet of paper.

Cheers...
