A very nice Thanksgiving...

One might be tempted to characterize it as "almost perfect," except that the family was not together. However, Natalie, Galina, and I did very well.

I finally managed to get 7 hours of sleep in one session! (Of course, this may also be the result of incipient collapse from fatigue, though I doubt it.) Upon arising, I checked my email and found that the pending job had been killed, the end client opting to go with an existing translation of the document (which they were not pleased with and wanted to redo, initially) rather than pay for translating it again (and at a rate that is undoubtedly higher than what they paid for the original translation). I cannot say I was tremendously surprised to find this out, and was able to put it behind me with no effort.

Natalie and I spent some time looking at some of the items I scanned while at my parents' house (with Galina joining us as I described the photos), and then we all settled down to a real Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallow, sweet peas, and ice cold California champagne. (Okay, so champagne is not traditional Thanksgiving fare. Go file a complaint with the county.)

After dinner, we watched Depardieu father and son in A Loving Father (Aime ton père), which left me fairly cold, on the whole. After the movie, I retired to get another couple of hours sleep, rising in time to splash some water on my face and drag a razor across parts of it, and set off for work.

Life is good.

Cheers...
