Interim report...

The good news: my copy of Lazarus Rising arrived at Wolftracks (more precisely, it's been there for a while, I just picked it up).

The bad news: I won't have time to read it any time soon.

I went back to the store to reprise my role as "UPS package processing deity," which I had performed yesterday and Monday, only to find everything working fairly smoothly. So, I quit the premises, stopped by the City Market to renew my supply of diet "Code Red" (love the taste, hate the name), and returned to the house.

I have just over 1900 source words left in the current assignment as I type this post, so my concerns about making deadline are fairly well quashed. I've been informed that the files for a new 14,000-source word assignment I accepted yesterday are so large (~30 and ~50 MB), that for the first time in recorded memory (or nearly a year) my client will be FedExing an assignment to me. As I understand it, I'll be working on a training manual for part of the Russian Segment of the ISS. (I swear, it was a mistake to let the Russians learn how to use Microsoft Office: the sizes of their document files have ballooned like crazy over the past several years!)

I bit the bullet and delegated my airline ticket-buying to a real travel agent, who pretty much set me up with what I need. I'm told I have a reservation and that everything will be finalized by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Back to work!

Cheers...
