We were very lucky, and had 11 months total for the Czech>English project. But since most of our translators were native Czech, editing was a bit heavier than one would expect.

Probably more dangerous for our translators were the massive French projects. A six month project to tie up a French to English translator could risk putting them off the radar of the other agencies they work with.
