alexpgp: (On The Road)

Hat trick...

I'm sitting in traffic in the back of a car somewhere on the Sadovoye ring road, with sirens moaning all around me. The pulsating cacophony sounds like a chorus of some great herd of wounded beasts. We're moving, but slowly.

Ben M. invited me to accompany him out to the cosmonautics museum near Ostankino, next to VDNKh, but it turned out to closed for renovation. Then we visited the market at Izmailovskiy Park, but most of the booths were empty (and the vendors who were there tended to be tediously aggressive).

We had a nice lunch - plain but filling - at the market, then set off across town for the Borodino museum, which is closed on Fridays. Aaargh!

Still, it was time well spent.

We're out of traffic and not far from my destination.
Cheers...

Oh, what a pity... I heard that that the Cosmonautics museum has already been restored and opened. What slackers, they are probably taking time off for winter ;)

When we were in Moscow (July 07), the museum was closed because the ceiling etc. was collapsing. We were both looking forward to seeing the Gagarin space suit!

Sounds like it was a very short trip for you. Welcome home! :)

You know, Ben had heard exactly the same thing, but when we got there, the front doors had that ominously closed look, and a sign indicating an entrance over on the side. We went off to the side, stepped inside, and were promptly chased out by a security guard.

Maybe those previous renovations didn't do the job?

Cheers...

Maybe they only open in summer?... Who knows, Russian museums have always run on their own time ;)
