Old submarine movies and the weather...
"Captain! Screws at seven thousand yards, bearing two-two-seven and closing!" The handsome young soundman stuck his head out of the sound shack to finish his report. "Sounds like a 'can', Skipper."
"Good work, Sound," said the intrepid sub commander, adjusting his cap. "Engine room! Secure the snorkel, go over to battery power. All hands, rig for silent running!"
For the n-th day in a row, it's rained around here, and rained hard. Complete with all the trimmings: the light show and the noise accompaniment, not to mention the wind and the actual water.
I hear the thunder as the storm approaches, then I'll see a flash, whereupon I get up, grab my laptop's battery and slide it home, in case the power goes out (about as certain as the water hitting the ground).
Indeed, since starting this post, the power has gone out (and come back on), and a few seconds ago there was a flashbang, indicating a strike probably somewhere within 100 yards (but, I am happy to say, no closer than 10 yards, else I'd have felt it, too).
I should probably stop translating, get up, have a soda or something. Yeah, that's the ticket.
My sub commander's cap is upstairs, anyway.
Cheers...

My wee doglet comes rushing out from her usual domain of UnderTheBedsLand to jump up on the sofa and cower under my arms, under a blanket, towel or any available cover. I think she hopes the NoisyLights won't be able to see her hiding there, though the constant quivering of the draperies give her away somewhat :-}
I hope Galina is getting joy from her visit to Mma and Ssis in the old stomping grounds. Please forrard my very best wishes for all of them?
Hugs . . . . . . ?

Shiloh doesn't seem to mind the multimedia presentation. It just might be her nature, with a little help from my rather calm reaction to all the pinjaggawillikaboom in the area. (How's that for an onomatopoeic neologism?)
Thanks for your wishes, I'll pass them along.
Cheers...
