Before you know it...
...you've learned quite a bit about org mode in Emacs and have started to depend on it. Which escalates the importance of keeping configuration and data files backed up.
The latest wrinkle I've grokked is the "habit," which is basically a recurring task with a flexible time specification (e.g., "remind me to do this after time x has elapsed, and make an appropriate note in the habit's history if I don't do it within time y"). Making a note of having completed whatever it is you specified automatically updates the history and then reschedules the next occurrence based on the time specification. Thus, a specification of +1w/10d means "schedule the next performance in one week, and flag nonperformance after 10 days."
There is a great temptation to add a whole lot of habits, along the lines of New Year's Resolutions, but so far, I've got a "training wheels" configuration of four habits (with varied time specifications), to make sure I understand how the feature and its history display works.
* * * Within a few days, I shall have to make a decision whether to renew my Backblaze data backup subscription or not. Does anyone reading this subscribe to such a service? If you do and if you have had to use the service to recover your data, how well did what happened match your expectations?
* * * It is hugely cold around these parts right now, though without precipitation. I was unable to walk very far today, and when Shiloh asks to go out, it does not take long for her to ask to come back in.
* * * Doing multiple documents that closely resemble each other in format and purpose can be pretty daunting, and I finally finished Friday's assignment this afternoon. During the hours spent incorporating changes, I managed to add a net of about 7,200 new words.
The grapevine suggests work will start to pour in tomorrow.
I will be ready.
Cheers...

I used Backblaze for a while.....but, didn't continue my subscription. I wasn't too keen on having to rely on getting my backup mailed to me, rather than being to download it (this was a while ago, so it might be different now).
