Stress!

Daughter Natalie is still in Houston. She reports the car is not fit for long-distance driving, which is unfortunate, although automobile is not the ideal mode of transportation out of Houston right now. She reports a friend had called from the road this morning, where he had progressed all of 24 miles since leaving town at 2:30 am.

The revised track now shows Rita headed pretty much directly for Houston.

I am running out of fingernails.

Back from the hospital...

My mom's mental state seems akin to the general disposition of a rack of billiard balls immediately after the break. Today, she knew where she was, but not who I was (though she did observe that I seemed to be trying to make myself invisible). She resists physical therapy with great gusto, exceeded only by a lack of appetite. If it weren't for the 5% glucose drip, I'm sure she'd be in much worse shape.

Le sigh.
