1028.4 miles...

... from door to door, including a short U-turn to check out what had to be the largest and most pathetic yard sale in Texas.

Galina and I made the trip yesterday in 18 hours and 15 minutes, with several stops along the way for food and gas. We left the house at 4:45 am and arrived at about the stroke of midnight. Unloading the car went a lot faster than loading it.

Natalie came by in the early afternoon, and without her help, my designs at Verizon would have come to naught. I never did see a company intent on having a set of rules that pretty much guarantee that they can always find a reason not to do something for you.

Case in point: I wanted to upgrade my Samsung A610. Since it's a Colorado number, I could not do that at the local Verizon store; I'd have had to call an 800 number, blah, blah, etc.

In the end, I"upgraded" to a Blackberry (and a new phone number) that I can use for both voice, data, and as a data modem for the VAIO (its current mode). Looking at it from another point of view, as I was willing to keep a Colorado number in Texas, I ought to be able to work with a Texas number in Colorado, so I can spend a month or two phasing out the Colorado number, methinks.

It's been a long day, and I'm still recovering from the drive, so this post will be shorter than it otherwise could be. Tomorrow promises to be one of those better-hit-the-ground-running days.

Cheers...
