Somewhat behind...
Admittedly, I got a late start on the day, for no good reason, though I did send off the due translation on time and managed to address some financial issues this morning.
This is why I find myself some words short for the day. Exactly how many requires a sharper pencil than I am willing to devote to the problem right now. Yesterday's estimate of 2800 words of the OCR Nightmare per day was probably a little on the low side, since there is a significant quantity of text that never got OCRed (and was left as a series of embedded graphics... grrr).
So I'm figuring my bag of a little more than 3100 words for the day leaves me something like 1000 words short for the day. Since I devoted today to the OCR Nightmare, tomorrow, I shall have to start and substantially finish the item for Thursday morning and then return again to the OCR Nightmare.
Good news: the pending 3,000-source-word assignment didn't materialize. On the other tentacle, a 1,000-source-word assignment did materialize from my best client, so the pressure has been kicked up a notch. Oh, well.
* * * I caught part of the Today show's grilling of author Andrew Morton this morning, and I was gratified to see that network entertainers (qua "journalists") are capable of asking really aggressive questions, yet dismayed that the only time you'll see this happen is when a headline-grabbing celebrity biographer is in the hot seat.
Although I did get a late start, it's been go-go-go since I did start to work. I'm feeling somewhat tired.
Cheers...
