My cup is in overflow mode. Big time.

So much so that I'm hoping my offer to one client in particular is rejected (though secretly, deep down inside, I'm not going to complain much if my offer is accepted, except in a sort of pro forma manner).

I even managed to take Shiloh for a walk to the beach and back this morning. Along the way, we encountered two police cars and an emergency response unit. Two of the officers were looking off into the woods as we passed by, and when I stopped a hundred yards or so down the road to look back and try to make sense of what was going on, I saw the officers moving into the underbrush with their service weapons drawn. I believe, in the end (which reminded me a little of the end of the film classic White Heat, if you get my drift, but with no gas storage tank or mushroom cloud) a strangely acting raccoon exited this veil of tears.

Break's over. Back to the face!

Cheers...

It has been one long day of translation, and if I previously was only dimly aware that incoming cell phone calls sometimes do not progress to the point of ringing my phone, I am well aware of it now.

Said grisly phenomenon happened three times today, with each call involving the offer of an assignment. The "good" news in all this is that I could not have accepted the work, as I had already accepted about 3,000 words for tomorrow (done!) and another 1800 words for Thursday morning. (Then there is the pending assignment that I don't expect to get since I priced myself somewhat on the high side, but we'll see.)

Still, this could have happened while I was in a "dry" period, and then I'd be one unhappy camper. A temporary solution would be to check voice mail every hour or so, but I'm generally lucky if I rouse myself to check voice mail every week, so that's going to be a challenge.

In addition to the 3,000 words for tomorrow, I translated another 1200 source words of the OCR Nightmare. Assuming the pending assignment is a dud, today's work means I only need to translate the 1800 words for Thursday and then 2800 source words of the OCR Nightmare per day until the deadline.

In other news, I need to enroll Shiloh (and myself) in some dog obedience classes. She is getting pretty unruly, and nothing I've learned so far has reversed or even slowed the trend. Grrr.

Cheers...
