Home again... for a couple of days...

There's not really much to say about yesterday. I got home after midnight, and I'm thankful the LIRR runs a train out of Jamaica at 11:44 pm.

While there's not much that can be done about the weather, I'm loaded for any post-flight "how can we improve our service" survey that JetBlue may care to throw in my direction. While the flight was okay - as far as it went - it seems that the baggage handling end of the lashup still has a few kinks.

Yesterday, while standing and staring at the Arrivals display to see at which carousel the Houston bags were being disgorged, I noticed that none of the information being announced over the loudspeaker, e.g.,
Pass<...mumble...>ers arriving <...mumble...>Vegas on Flight One<...mumble... mumble...>Carousel 8
was being updated on the display. This meant that, in theory, the carousel with the bags from Houston had already been announced, as I had made a pit stop upon emerging from the security zone.

Indeed, I only got the hint that Houston bags had been processed when the information for my flight - still with no indication of carousel - disappeared from the display. Fortunately, I found my bag at the first carousel I came to. Even more fortunately, I had plenty of time to kill before the 11:44 pm left Jamaica.

Today was one of those frenetic days where I did quite a bit of physical labor and tried to help get this place in order before we leave Tuesday. I also managed to get all the meds I'll need for Baikonur.

I also just sent off a short assignment that I accepted on Friday.

Cheers...

Interesting techniques...

Out of curiosity, I pasted the URL of an image into a dialog box that expected me to click on the name of a file on my disk.

The image was fetched from the Internet.

I've also noticed - and have made use of - the ability to create folders, copy or move files (via Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V), and delete files and folders while the File Open dialog box is open. Never a hiccup from Windows.

Speaking of, um, interesting... I could swear I've seen the font in the "STS-124..." title in the picture below (of a mission poster) somewhere before... :^)

(Note: There's a lot of reflection - specifically, the stanchions and ropes - in the image... one does what one can with what one has, yes?)

Is NASA trying to attract the attention of kids that read Harry Potter novels? (Not that it would hurt, mind you.)

Cheers...
