I love the smell of logorrhoea in the morning!

I am beginning not to mind so much these bureaucratic documents that start off with sentences of over 200 words, which purport to explain the rationale for the document, e.g., "this document is promulgated on the basis of ..., approved by ..., under the authority of ..., ..., ..., ..., ..., and ..., as set forth in ... and ..., approved by ...," etc.

I am not much of an environmentalist, but it's a shame trees have to die for this kind of stuff.

Cheers...

The daily struggle...

The bag for the day is just over 4,300 target words, and the question on everyone's lips (at least, around here) is whether July billings will be worse than January's or not.

Right now, given what's on the plate, I'm betting not, but it won't be by much. Galina and I have been too busy to figure out why, but I've heard reports that translation volumes (at least among folks who work in Russian and English) have been down all summer.

Tomorrow's an early wake up to take Galina to the airport, then it's back to the house to finish 2,000 more words of translation and to figure out how to distribute a fairly large job over a sufficiently long, but not overly long, time period. In between, I can expect a conference call involving Tennessee, the UK, and China.

Between all that and those five words that were handed to me—I need to move off dead center with those—it's going to be a busy day.

Cheers...
