Today was an interesting combination of work (including invoicing), cleanup, and chasing my own tail. The kind of thing that leaves you exhausted at the end of the day and wondering, "What what that all about?"
While cleaning away some ivy that threatened to overgrow the garage, I found an interesting fungus growing at the base of a shrub, which just goes to show the kinds of things one can find in an urban environment. I have seen mushrooms in the area during my walks with Shiloh, but most of these are either "little brown mushrooms" of unknown (to me) type, or small puffballs. Regarding the item in the photo, I am sure the specimen is not edible, but there's something vaguely familiar about it.

Among other accomplishments today was Galina and I going off to rent a storage space for all of Natalie's stuff. My favorite part of the process was when the person behind the counter announced that insurance on the contents of the storage space was required, and then tried to get us/Natalie to commit to an $8-per-month policy that probably has more holes in it than a piece of shotgunned Swiss cheese. I announced that the contents were insured via the simple expedient of self-insurance, to which our interlocutor had no good rejoinder (other than a dirty look). I mean, assuming such a requirement actually exists, if the state will allow drivers to self-insure, surely they'll allow renters of storage space to do so, as well.
Work came in late in the day. It will require my best efforts through end-of-day tomorrow. (No complaints, mind you.)
Cheers...
