Perhaps the hardest lesson to take away...

Via "Dan from Madison," writing about an estate sale at Chicago Boyz:

I may attend a sale like this in the future. I wonder if I will think about the deceased the next time. I am sure I will – that is the historian in me.

I was reminded of a great lesson. In the end, it is all crap that you can’t take with you. It was good for me to get that reminder.

As someone who has been on the receiving end of going through the effects of the deceased (as in: my parents), I would have thought this lesson had sunk in by now, but it hasn't.

Not emotionally, at least.
