Expanding one's vocabulary...

Encountered in a conversation with a Russian:

недоперепить - (v.) to have drunk more than one should, but not as much as one wanted.

An interesting concept, to be sure.

Cheers...

How would that be pronounced phonetically? Sounds like a useful word : )

The infinitive would be pronounced nye-doh-pee-ree-PETE, where the end of the final syllable finds the tip of one's tongue just behind the top front teeth (as if pronouncing the "t" sound), relaxing into a sibilant (so that the "t" glides into a slight "s" sound).

Like any good verb, conjugated forms work off the root, e.g.,

I/you/he nye-doh-pee-ree-PIL
She nye-doh-pee-ree-PIL-ah
We nye-doh-pee-ree-PIL-ee

Then again, it's not an oft-encountered word.

Apologies for providing more than you wanted to know, no doubt.

Cheers...

Genius! I tell you, when it comes to resonance of language related to liquor- you just can't beat Russian.

The word is underoverengineered.
