Virus city...

I have recently noticed a sharp increase (up from zero) in the number of viruses I've been getting as I fetch mail using my Windows-based notebook computer. Is this somehow associated with sweeps month?

Seriously, is it just me, or are viruses becoming as ubiquitous as spam on the Internet?

Well, one thing I've noticed is that viruses are a lot less frequent when working mail via a Linux-based system, but I suspect that's because such systems are not very much fun to target, and because most Linux mail client software doesn't try to automate the heck out of your life to the point where you have to stand by helplessly and allow things to happen that, given a choice, you wouldn't want to happen.
