Surprise!

Q: What kind of cretinous wanker would assiduously place a carriage return at the end of every farblegargling line of a word-processing document?

A: The same kind of scrofulous imbecile that carefully creates a multi-page table consisting of headings and several dozen rows of information, and packages it in a Word table having exactly one row!

Grrrrrr.

Cheers...

Ah. Yes. Engineers. Gotta love 'em.

We deal a lot with similar types here. We've got to take Word documents and convert them to SGML, we give the engineers a template to follow so that our conversion mapper knows what each Word style should wind up as in SGML.

This would work great if our engineers didn't insist on writing everything in the "Normal" style and then manually altering the text to look like different styles.

Needless to say, our conversion mapper crashes a lot.

If it's been converted from Something Odd into .txt and then into Word, this happens. And yes, it's infuriating.

Hey... remind me why we decided translating was a good idea as a profession, would you?
