Roundup...
Dec. 2nd, 2009 08:56 pmThe day's bag contains about 3,700 target words, with about 1,000 source words and despeckling left for tomorrow morning. I'm just not into undertaking any heroic effort to finish it right now, especially when it's not really necessary.
I've been thinking, on and off, of what to write for this week's LJ Idol essay, and am largely still up against a blank wall. If more work comes in tomorrow, I just might finally use one of my byes, which goes against my grain for more reasons than one.
One reason to not take a bye is the nature of the beast. After all, the purpose of entering LJ Idol is to write something every week, and the fact that it's more difficult to do so some weeks than others - particularly if the reason is a dearth of ideas - is just the way the cookie crumbles.
A second and related reason not to take a bye is that doing so makes it harder to sit down and write something the next time, even if the going is not as grim.
(FWIW, please keep in mind I am most definitely not saying that there can never be a good reason to take a bye. Real Life™ does have a way of interfering, from time to time, in the best laid plans, and I've been lucky in that regard. Your mileage may vary, and so may mine, down the road.)
And having typed all that, two nebulous ideas have surfaced for this week's essay. Now, all I need to do is tofind make some time in which to do some writing.
Cheers...
