Did a short translation a week or two ago, intended to accompany a video for a new hardware/software system that uses multiple modems from multiple carriers to ensure the best connectivity possible from remote locations.

Then yesterday, they asked me to record my translation. So I did.

I heard back this morning, and saw the following:

Голос похож на закадровый голос в американской пропаганде 60-х годов. :) То что нужно!

Your voice sounds like an American propaganda voice-over from the 1960s! :) Which is just what's needed! [my translation]

People can say the nicest things!

Now, to figure out how to add this to my personal marketing message!

Seriously speaking, I noted that I only had to make two small changes to my translation (in the sense that the result sounded better when voiced, in my incredibly egotistical and arrogant opinion).

In other news, the day has conspired so far to keep me from the long-deadline job, whose deadline is starting to worry me. Part of the problem is the arrival of a huge job from my best client, and it's making my knees weak (and not in a good way). It consists of nearly 600 pages of Russian and corresponding machine-translated English tables, in PDF format, with the end client wondering if the English version is editable!

PDF? Editable?

I kept my reply civil.

I'm curious why you say pdf files aren't editable. I import them into Serif PagePlus and edit them all the time.

Editable as like in a word processor?

Can you do a global search and replace that reflow's paragraphs, if necessary?

Yes. PagePlus is a page layout program, so it has full formatting capabilities, and it also outputs to pdf files if desired. The main problem is that some pdfs don't import their formatting very well, but most that I've imported seem to do ok.
