While the rest of the world continues its slow slide toward The Abyss, it seems I spent the day tending to one errand after another. So far for the week, I'm not being very productive.

The day started with me dropping Galina off at the place where she's enrolled to take a 30-hour Continuing Education course (10 hours x 3 days). Today was Day One. At noon, I had to pick her up so we could hightail it to Pearland to inspect the work being done on the property out there and settle the usual questions with the contractor. Then in the late afternoon, I went again to pick her up from class.

In between, the office was visited by a writer and photographer from the Houston Chronicle, who are doing a piece on translation companies in the Houston area. I like to think we gave them some good information and some insights into our business. After answering some basic questions, I spent a lot of time getting them in front of the staff members doing the actual day-to-day work. I hope the final product will be something to be proud of. (A couple of years ago, we were visited by folks from the German Frankfurter Allegemeiner newspaper, who interviewed a bunch of people, took lots of pictures, and then wrote an article containing prominent errors, while taking some pretty audacious liberties with the facts.)

On other fronts, a certain initiative we've been promoting with NASA's encouragement has had all the obstacles removed after what seems like an eternity, so now it's "full speed ahead." The only challenge here is that the sudden acceleration of events means that somebody - I'll let you guess who - will have to spend quite a bit of time getting the new work effort fine tuned. That's in addition to additional responsibilities discussed earlier in the week. It's difficult to say, "no," for reasons that I won't go into here, because nobody 'd believe them.

Ah, well, at least this all will keep me off the streets.

Cheers...

P.S. And a huge welcome back to sanssouci. Il est bon de vous lire encore.
