It's been so long since I've sat down to a good, butt-numbing programming session, that I'd forgotten how much, um, fun the process entails.

The reason for the season, so to speak, is the need to revamp the home-rolled Excel spreadsheet used by the folks who owned the business before me and Galina. There were just too many things to have to remember about rates that were not embedded in the workbook; hopefully, most of those have been accounted for.

The weather - what I've seen of it from behind this desk and the inside of the store - has been wonderful around here. However, a glance at the mountains makes you think of winter, as clouds rise and fall over the Continental Divide. Yesterday, coming back from Durango, where Galina and I attended a regional seminar for CMRA's (Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies), we topped a rise and saw the mountains swathed in clouds, except for a narrow hole in the clouds that gave the impression of being tunnel-like.

Today, the clouds were arranged in such a way that the mountains disappeared into them, giving the impression that they were much higher than they actually were.

I wish I had the artistic talent to reproduce what I see. Rather, I wish I had the patience to do it; I'm pretty sure I have the talent. <grin>

Turning away from the mountains, you'd see pretty clear skies to the south and west. The only objectionable parts of the view in that direction today were several sets of contrails, left by aircraft as they wing high overhead to destinations far away.

It is getting late. Galina was going to leave for Houston today, but got tired, and then couldn't fall asleep. We all had store-bought pizza today, and it turns out that DiGiorno (sp?) actually does taste like made-to-order pizza. (Said another way, I've ordered take-out pizzas that taste a lot worse.)

Ciao. Here's hoping that the weather holds for tomorrow; Galina needs to be in Houston on Monday morning.

Cheers...
