Just saw the much-anticipated second half of The X Files cliff-hanger of a few weeks ago. Nice work. Good to see many old faces (thinking of the Alex Krycek character). I am thoroughly confused, which is about par for my experience with the series.

Opened the shop at 9 this morning for the carpet cleaner to do his thing. The place looks better. I also collected all manner of notes and other miscellaneous paper, trying to incorporate it into the QuickBooks file...that'll take me a couple of days at least.

Went to Durango, did some shopping. Bought a sub-$100 DVD player and now have to buy a dingus that will take RCA plugs as input and output something I can feed through a coax...trying to go through an intermediate VCR is just awful, as there is some kind of software "protection" (not for the consumer, but for the copyright holder) that makes the picture lighter and darker and wiggly and, oh, all sorts of crappy...or maybe that's just the consequence of buying a cheap player.

For sure, though, the instructions tell me that I can only play "Region 1" DVDs on the player (I presume that means titles intended for the North American market - and priced, um, appropriately), and that there is some sort of image degradation in use if the output detects a VCR on the other end.

Next thing I expect will be some sort of automatic thingummy that will require me to drink, say, Coca-Cola while watching the feature (any attempt to drink a competing brand will cause the picture to be distorted in some new, horrible way).

"If this is Hollyweird, we ain't weird enough!"

Cheers...
