PAPER-R-R-R!!!
Oct. 2nd, 2001 06:32 pmAnd what's funny... is that I haven't even started on the tax stuff yet (though that should not, objectively speaking, take long).
I went to open the store with Galina this morning, did two days of reports, dropped by the bank, came home.
It may have only been some kind of allergic reaction to something in the air, but I felt feverish, with a runny nose and a headache. So, I lay down for a nap.
Two hours later, I am awakened by a phone call from a client. Do I have time for two short last-minute items? You betcha!
I don't know if the items were actually e-mailed, but I never got them in my mail. After an hour of waiting, I called the client and gave them a URL to a PHP page on my "work" web site that allows users to upload files to a directory I can get at, either by ftp or using another PHP script that lists the files in the directory, with http links to each file, so all I have to do to get a file is click on it.
They uploaded the files using my web page, I got them, translated them, and returned them. The translation was not so straightforward, as the behavior of these (supposedly) Word files was strange. (E.g., attempts to edit the header/footer result, upon exiting that mode, in the disappearance of the header and reversion of the footer to what it was before editing. Yikes!)
Anyway, my office is strewn with all sorts of paper, as they sent along some reference documents (very helpful, by the way), but I have had a heck of a time keeping everything straight. (I suspect I spent as much time verifying that I was, indeed, translating the right document, as I did doing the actual translation. I need to work on document organization skills.)
In any event, I am bushed. Galina is not home from the store yet. Drew has finished cooking dinner and it is cooling upstairs as I write this. Huntur is being a fuss-budget right now, and letting everyone know about it.
Life is good.
Cheers...
