First contact...
Jun. 24th, 2002 05:06 pmThough I've had my new call sign for nearly two months, today was the first time I managed to talk with someone with it. My contact was a fellow named Chuck Kelley (KB0SFC), and he's a Marine on leave at home here in Pagosa between deployments. We were joined in our conversation by Pete Mergens (W6VOD), who served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
* * * After the party yesterday, I was feeling very tired and warm. Shortly after yesterday's post, I went upstairs, but Galina had already gone to bed and was sleeping in the middle of our king size mattress. So as not to disturb her, I went out to the living room and lay down on the sofa.
Some time later, I woke up shivering. I quickly covered myself with the blanket that we'd folded and placed in front of the fireplace as a seat cushion, and fell asleep for another period. Finally, Galina got up, woke me up, and I went to sleep in the bedroom, but only after a long period of tossing and turning.
I was okay this morning - more or less - until about 10 am, when I started feeling poorly again.
I've been home since about noon, and this post is evidence of my first voyage from the bedroom since getting home. If I have a fever, it's pretty low (thermostat? what thermostat?). My eyes still feel itchy, but at least I don't now have a desire to lie down on the floor and go to sleep.
I think I will go back upstairs for awhile.
* * * The kids leave for California tonight. I have to get well soon.
Cheers...
