Three types of people...
Aug. 5th, 2002 07:59 amAround opening time, I have come to notice three types of customer:
The first is the customer who ignores the Open/Closed sign completely, along with the fact that the lights inside the store are off, and tries to open the door to go in and get served. These people are utterly surprised when the door does not open, and after a moment, their eyes start to look for the sign showing the store's hours. It is about then that they notice the big "CLOSED" sign, too.
The second is the customer who looks and sees the CLOSED sign, observes the lack of lights, but tries the door anyway.
The third is the customer who arrives after opening on those rare days when I forget to flip the sign to OPEN and stands outside, patiently, waiting for permission to enter.
This distinction is, of course, arbitrary. The only true division of people into three classes is this: those who are good with math, and those who aren't.
<grin>
Cheers...
