Still no mushrooms...
Sep. 7th, 2002 09:15 pmI set the alarm for about 5:30 am, intent on going out for a drive before opening the store, but couldn't get my lazy carcass out of bed. Otherwise, it was a pretty standard Saturday.
After we closed the store, Galina and I took the pickup for a drive. Aside from one lonely group of mature shaggy manes and a small group of mushrooms I could not identify, the woods were bare of fungus. This, despite there having been some rain over the past couple of days and in particular, our playing "tag" with some rain clouds as we drove along Plumtaw.
At one point, while walking through the woods, I came across a heavy blue mass that looked like nothing natural or man-made. I finally figured out it was what was left of a salt lick after umpteen gazillion cows, deer, elk, and what-have-you have have run their tongues over it.
A little while ago, the kids brought Huntur over for us to look after for a couple of hours. Later.
Cheers...
