's been a lo-o-ong day...
Oct. 16th, 2002 11:35 pmI am well and truly bushed. I haven't thought of anything other than the paper chase since early in the morning. I barely made an appearance at the store to pick up some of the spreadsheet files we've been using to keep track of what's going on.
After that, the day really got started with a three hour session with the CPA, who set up a chart of accounts for the store and showed me some basic stuff.
I'm hooked. The chart of accounts the CPA put together beats the pants off the one I inherited from the former owner of the store. It makes more sense. As it was, while the CPA (whom I shall hereinafter refer to as Curt, because it's his name) was explaining things to me, I had to keep simplifying my view of the world (accounting-wise), since I was still relying on that old chart.
In any event, I've entered all the checks I have for the store, and then I've gone on to create a second file for the LLC, and I entered all the invoices and payments for 2001 in that file. After twisting and turning, I finally got all of them to mesh, except for items that would've hit in August, the statement and checks for which I have not found yet, but the pile of paper is still high, and I have hopes.
It sure beats a spreadsheet, let me tell you.
* * * Drew called earlier to tell me about a flyby of the station and the Shuttle, but I missed it. I'm glad he saw it, though.
Cheers...
