I opened the box that came from the Half.com vendor from whom I bought a $159 Dell. The unit was an Optiplex (perhaps one revision cycle earlier than the two that I bought last year). On the minus side, the unit will not recognize the 512MB RAM card I bought a few weeks ago, the hard drive is a mere 10 GB. On the plus side, the unit's CPU is the fastest one in my inventory (450 MHz), and its CD drive allowed me to restore Windows 2000 Pro from the Dell Optiplex restore CD, so now I have two Optiplex units with the original software on it, as well as a third unit with Linux on it.

While doing a marathon session listening to Kiyosaki, I've been trying to install TWiki on the Dell Linux box. I don't know how far I've gotten, because Kiyosaki's getting into some interesting material.

Tried starting the Nissan, but found I'd left the lights on, so the battery was dead. I took the van to the store and did the usual thing. While at the Wolftracks coffee shop, I notice (again) that it's becoming increasingly a meeting venue for groups, and here, I don't mean the usual morning group that settles in around the back table... or maybe I do.

I think I'll try going there again tomorrow morning and see if anyone is up for a chess game.

Sasha started to have a bad day (signaled by a heavy "thump" above my head as the dog fell off the bed). I ran upstairs and managed to wedge a pill between her clenched teeth and managed to get her on her feet and outside for a short walk (even if it was back and forth on the porch). Amazingly enough, Sasha settled down and hasn't had an episode for the rest of the day.

Cheers...
