I mentioned yesterday that the Opera browser on the Z didn't support paste. I was wrong. It does (at least Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V work using this MicroInnovations keyboard). Here is yesterday's text:
So here I am, sitting in the Starbucks that's stuck in the corner of the Barnes & Noble at the intersection of Bay Area Blvd. and I-45, connected to the 'net via T-mobile and updating my LJ.

Typing on this too-small keyboard is the pits, but it beats trying to whip all those electrons into line using one's fingernails or intimidating them with one's "command voice."

The sim went well, though it's hard for me to assess my performance, as the glavnyi really did not have much to say today. Tomorrow, the sim is fairly short (and late... I need to get to work by 10:00 or so), but I'm the air-to-ground interpreter.

This would be a lot more convenient if I weren't constrained to having to type with two fingers, each of which touches several keys when I press down.

Off to do some mail and browsing (in the store... browsing the 'net can wait until later!)

Cheers...
Today's sim was short and sweet, by design. It started at around 10:39 and let out aound 4.

Word from California is that I am expected in Moscow on the 30th (is that enough time to get everything done? Maybe... especially if I start while I'm down here :)

If I leave this Starbucks right now, I'll probably get home about the same time as yesterday, and a few minutes after Natalie gets home.

More later. Time to hit the road.

Cheers...

My previous post was atrocious (not only was the content somewhat insipid, but the mechanics were horrible, too). Missing spaces were the primary problem, induced through the use of a new keyboard.

It took some twisting and turning to get the keyboard to work on the Z today. Fortunately, the folks in the sim, (Tracy and Hans... no kidding) didn't have much to say of particular urgency, so that left a lot of time for me to figure out the mechanics of getting the keyboard to work with the Z. Unfortunately, I think the casting of chicken bones has something to do with the probablility of sucess in this area.

There is a tendency to miss spaces with the keyboard. I don't know whether it is something intrinsic to the hardware, or whether I just need to get used to it. Currently, I am playing with the idea of not taking my VAIO overseas with me, and making do with simply a Linux-powered Zaurus for note-taking.

Upon returning home, I found I was missing the key to the house, which is scary, as I definitely had it upon leaving the house (I know, because I had to return to get my wallet... again). I eventually ended up climbing in the window to the laundry room, whereupon I went out to the car to fetch my computer and stuff, only to find the key lying a few feet away from the car door. (Cue: music from The Twilight Zone).

I sent my visa application via FedEx to the client, and if all went well, Galina sent my passport to the same address, albeit from Pagosa. The news is that the client found the visa photos I sent back in... November? so I don't have to supply any new ones.
